WHO REMEMBERS "OL' LONELY?"
A humorous and long lasting ad campaign by a well-known home appliance maker, Maytag, featured a character "0I' Lonely", their repair technician.
The series of TV commercials showed 0I' Lonely bemoaning the forlorn life of repair technician because the appliances were just "too dependable" and "too rugged". As such, they never broke down and no one called him for service. He just wasn't needed, except by his faithful dog, Newton.
AN INCREDIBLE SUCCESS STORY
In the power industry, equipment reliability is priority number one! EagleBurgmann DiamondFace innovative face technology has been a game changer, and is threatening to make our seal repair staff pretty lonely.
Take for example the Reactor Feed Water Pump seals at Quad Cities, a nuclear power plant owned by Exelon. The plant was experiencing run times between 8,000 and 15,000 hours before upgrading to EagleBurgmann DF SA seals in 2011. After over 76,000 hours, the EagleBurgmann seals are still running! Exelon has plans to replace the seals in 2027 and 2028, during a rotor change. That will put the seals at over 130,000 run hours, a 10x improvement!
