High Temperature Penetration Seal


End User customer at power plant struggles for years to find the right vendor & solution for High Temperature Penetration Seal issue

 

SITUATION

At a user conference held in Orlando Florida, the EagleBurgmann team had the privilege of discussing problematic expansion joints with a customer that had been battling with leaking, sub-par installations for several years. 

Later, the EagleBurgmann team visited the customer’s site located in the Northern Midwest to conduct a site review including a walk through and thermal imaging of all expansion joints. 

 

CHALLENGES

The customer complained the ongoing issues with high temperature penetration seals were not only affecting the efficiency of the unit, but also the safety of their employees.  Heat loss in any gas fired power plant could mean a multitude of things – safety concerns, damage to neighboring equipment as well as inefficient systems.

 

OUR SOLUTION

Following the walkthrough, the site was provided with an extensive survey and recommendation report.  As a result, the customer agreed to proceed with EagleBurgmann’s state of the art design and the expansion joints are now performing as they should. 

Temperatures have returned to normal operating temperatures and are now reading 198 degrees Fahrenheit from the original 700 degrees Fahrenheit
